But.. why are certain tags telling me 500+ results, but only having 5 pics? I was looking for Catgirl pic's and searched Nekomimi, said 500 posts, but only had 5 pics.

Images of rule violations don't [usually] get deleted from the site. They get hidden from search results. So the tag is counting them even when they are gone.


The tag alias system that causes two tags to generate the same results occasionally causes bugs that may miscount the tags as well.



When the ratio of posts vary as dramatically as you say (5 of 500) there is a chance that it is the second problem. Either the tag has been aliased to another, someone used their own software to mass change it to another, or has been deemed it useless and suddenly removed it all.



Worth noting is that Danbooru not only has over 1,000 images with that tag.

It has over 1,000 pages.

It has been aliased to "cat_ears" so expect that Gelbooru has done the same.

You'd think maybe when a tag brings up no results on the first page, it could give a link to the wiki page on it just in case it's some aliased tag.

But things never get implemented around here, like the million better ways to take care of this situation that I can't think of at the moment.
