Childhood anime cliches/tropes you love.

One of mine is the power of friendship shit that always come up in these things. I love how despite everyone's differences, they all always come together to kick the fuck out of evil. Admittedly, the protagonist would do the heavy lifting, but in the old days she/he would be powered by the faith of others.

If it exists there is transforming robot of it, no exceptions.

My childhood is '80s so... Transformers, Go-bots, Robotech, Voltron etc.

Oooo, good period! Out of curiosity, what did you think of G-Gundam? Did you like Samurai Pizza Cats or was that too 90s? 80s types tend to hate the 90s.

I never heard of Gundam until I was an adult. If it ever aired in America at the time, not all regions aired the same shows if you didn't have cable television.

I think Samurai Pizza Cats was in a bad time slot were I lived so I didn't watch it for that reason. Well, that and it looked like it was aimed at a younger audience. Don't remember. I'd of had the TV tuned to Tiny Toon Adventures or Animainiacs.

when i was younger my concept of anime was dragon ball z kai and then whatever random stuff i would find on funimation. i think i got a glimpse of ranma, spice and wolf, chobits, baka and test, and soul eater
ergo my favourite trope was breasts. kidding! it was the random planting of characters into outfits with a landscape version of the image as the background

I like when the shounen never gives up, and even when it seems like all hope is lost, he always somehow manages to make it through by using sheer determination.

Strangely, shōjo protagonists tend to face more tragedy and hardship, I guess because Japan wants girls to grow up to be submissive housewives or something.

I couldn't stand the manga style when I was a child. It creeped me out.

But since then, i have a love-hate relationship with no-nonsense females.

The queen of these (though not mangamated) is Captain Vincent from Deadspace; Downfall

I see. Any super robo?. Judging from the time frame, I think Kamen Rider was in Japan?

Something like that. Also, horror movies are more popular among girls over there, judging from the shojo.

^Same, my favorite being the spirals in the lenses, like Umino from Sailor Moon.
