Anon2, japanese people have a super-human flexibility. Its not a matter of training, it's more like genetic. I've been training karate for many years and I have a very well flexibility but it's simply impossible to kneel with your legs spread, sitting on the floor. Yet, a japanese sits naturally that way. They must have some missing bones or something like that.

Actually, it's more likely because of doing seiza from a young age. I'm not Japanese, but can put my feet behind me and then around in front of me, like in wariza. It's mainly because most of the time i sit like that. If you can do it it's pretty comfortable.
