Something's telling me that, if dbz took place on planet Vegeta, rather than Earth, things would have been even better. Especially with the involvement of the other saiyans.
Just think. With Gok-... Kakarot and his family alive, raising him as a warrior but being somewhat of an outcast due to being the only Saiyan to cherish/value life (he'd still somehow hit his head as an infant to develop this change), yet at the same time growing to steadily become powerful enough to match the Elite, as his father Bardock. He and Raditz would have a complex relationship, the older brother both jealous of Kakarot for his superior strength/skill yet constantly trying to figure out how he can be so strong while being "soft" (refusing to kill). Kakarot in turn would always be trying to counsel his big bro on the subject, only for Raditz to give him the cold shoulder time and time again... But he's still there for his kid bro if ever he gets in over his head in a fight.
Then we get to Vegeta and the Elite. The Prince is alerted to Kakarot's rising strength and steadily keeps an eye on him, ever cautious that his power might someday surpass his own. One day, the two engage in a public spar/fight (either by Kakarot accidentally wounding his pride, or just simply wanting to fight him) during which it is determined that Kakarot is a superior fighter, however through questionable/cheap methods Vegeta manages to triumph. His pride thoroughly hurt due to being "almost" bested by a Low-Class warrior, decides to undergo severe training and undertake greater challenges so that he can ensure he stays the best. But Kakarot continues to grow stronger still.
The two become rivals, Vegeta struggling to maintain his pride and position while Kakarot sees it as a perfect challenge to overcome: defeat the strongest Elite. Nappa (especially) alongside the other Elites encourage Vegeta's actions and begin to train harder themselves (their own pride as Elites also at stake), while Kakarot's family and the other Low-Class saiyans do the same as they learn (from Kakarot) that they too could advance beyond "lower class".
This is when saiyan scouts (planet hunters? Whatever they're called) led by Kakarot would investigate earth itself and discover the dragon balls. Accidentally killing piccolo (or not) and thus turning their direction towards namek, and as information concerning the dragon balls reaches Prince Vegeta he alongside Nappa and a couple Elites also head to namek. But once the two groups arrive and challenge each other for the right to the dragon balls... They realize a much more powerful presence arriving to (if not already on) the planet: Freiza.
And thus, the next chapter of the saga will commence...

Honestly, I thought it up within a few minutes lol, but the thought of expansion did cross my mind...
I'm not sure atm, but if I did, I'd prefer it be a manga. I can draw, but I'm no master at toriyama style nor do I have the patience nor time to learn, let alone try.
If anything, I'd have to hire someone to draw while I make the story. Probably one or two of the artists making Dragonball Multiverse.
As it stands, not seeing it happening, at least not soon.

I'm not sure atm, but if I did, I'd prefer it be a manga. I can draw, but I'm no master at toriyama style nor do I have the patience nor time to learn, let alone try.
If anything, I'd have to hire someone to draw while I make the story. Probably one or two of the artists making Dragonball Multiverse.
As it stands, not seeing it happening, at least not soon.
