This must be based off of the Power of One Movie. Meaning, they are currently traveling through the Orange Archipelago. Looks like Ash and Pikachu are continuing to travel alone again.

So each of the "I Choose You" AU Movies have their own main characters other than Ash and Pikachu. Also, I think he might be traveling in either the Orange Archipelago or Johto region.

really like ash travelling alone without companions,feels more like the game.
