Yeah that´s how internet works today. people get angry over an anime character and threaten the creators in real life. good job guys....
by the way i have nothing against fandoms, but some people take animes, mangas, games, tv shows or movies way too serious

She's the MC's childhood friend with an unrequited crush on him, because MC is totally in love with a pink haired Manic Pixie Dream Girl with devil horns.
In episode 12, some drama happened where MC almost died and MPDG was directly responsible for it.
Episode 13 was a flashback episode revealing the real depth of their connection and painting MPDG in a very sympathetic light.
Episode 14, a misunderstanding lead to a confrontation that lead to a breakup between MC and MPDG. When MC was about to call out to her and try to reconcile, Childhood Friend chose that moment to confess her love for him and kiss him (which he visibly was not enjoying.) Also, they have another childhood friend who is in love with her, and had confessed his feelings to her before, and he just happened to be walking by when she pulled that shit.
So yeah, fans were not happy with her.

Then Goro did a noble thing and convinced her to face the music that Hiro is going for Zero Two no matter what. She finally understands and tearfully let Hiro go towards Zero Two which is hard on her part.
In a sense, this was intentional from the start by the writers however, after that, the fanbase will never let this pass after last week and will continually attack her and anyone involved harshly.
Honestly, this is like a repeat from the backlash of the tv ending of Evangelion, things never change.

Thank you very much OnyxSwift for that articulately detailed summary.
Sounds like a rather... well, let's not beat around the bush. It sounds like a boring AF anime xDD
To each their own, I suppose. When I hear about fans getting so passionate about a character (even in a very negative sense) it gave me hope there might actually be something of merit fueling that passion... not merely a cliche love triangle =_=

It just pathetic how people take these things too far. Its just an anime. No one does death threats and im not talking about the character but directly to directors and voice actors.
If Lelouch had chosen Kallen over CC then yeah I would be angry too as I dont support the couple but why go so far?
