It’s kind of unfortunate that Chi-Chi just disappears for almost the entirety of a series after only a somewhat brief appearance. Like Goku spends maybe less than a week’s time with her before seeing her as a grown woman that’s pissed at him for something he unwittingly said one time. Even the characters struggle to remember her.
Why didn’t they just have her show up at least occasionally? Like if she heard Goku was competing in the tournament all those times and showed up to support him, maybe remind him of his promise and grow frustrated that he just runs off without her to train (a problem that continues through to their marriage) and than maybe after years of not seeing her she shows up again as a grown woman and he forgets about her and doesn’t recognize her making her pissed at him completely understandable.
Instead it’s sort of a a girl who we don’t really know having a one-sided thing for a guy she met that copped a feel once. And boy did DBZ not do her any favours at the start.
