Is it at all ironic that the guy who can manipulate time got demoted from being the guy Goku was looking forward to punch fight the most so quickly? The guy became irrelevant and a stepping stone so fast that it might be a new record in DB. Vegeta must be pretty worried about his job security though.

To be fair Akira Toriyama personally does not like Vegeta. He tried many ways to write him out (I.E. kill him off) but he couldn't really find away. He tried with the Final Explosion in the Majin Buu arc but of course Akira thought of a new fusion method and thought "well...Gohan can't be fused with Goku that's weird...how about we bring Vegeta back?" The whole reason Vegeta is 100% a dick throughout the whole series is mainly Toriyama just shitting on Vegeta as a character. But at this point he is a fan favorite and a big part of Dragon Ball. The only reason Vegeta hasn't been replaced as 2nd fiddle was because of fans liking him and the fact that Vegeta has Bulma and Trunks (and now Bulla). Hit...Hit was cool. But he's a one trick pony. Goku is a 100 trick pony and so is Vegeta.
