Guys actually the idea for barbed cocks comes from felines. Felines naturally have barbed cocks. The barbs light but somewhat painful scrapping stimulates the feline body to secret a hormone that helps make it possible to conceive a cub. Not exactly the most effective natural phenomina but it apperently works because we do have lions around still, don't we? Or have the nekos taken over.
