It’s kind of a bummer that FF7 ain’t the kind of RPG that’ll allow you to romance who you want and do whatever. So that everyone who can’t get enough of Tifa can continue to pursue her but people who want to see how a romance with Aerith, Jessie or even Yuffie also get the chance. I can enjoy a story being told as it was meant to be but you can’t help but get a sense of rigidity or it being really scripted when they don’t give you options.

I think even some of the Dragon Quest games has romantic partners that you can maybe choose to pursue but yeah, Final Fantasy has always been kind of scripted. There were other girls besides Rinoa or Yuna but they’re really not options in the end. So you if you prefer Quistis or Lulu over boring drama girl, tough shit I guess. The Final Fantasy series were groundbreaking for its time but better stories and game mechanics in the realm of RPG’s have come and gone.
