Hmm, the original translation was completely wrong for this one: 'my' instead of 'your' for a start, plus missing out on the fact that '-te ii' is used to ask permission, not make suggestions. The infamous Japanese 'un' as well, just like 'hai', not simply meaning 'yes' all the time, but rather that what was just stated is correct and often rendered as 'no' in English when the sentence is in the negative. (^_~)
