This would be an interesting game to play.

nah that would be a dumb game with all the turning the board around. that's usually not done in chess.

Anon2, that's just an expression for viewing events from the enemy's perspective. The chess strategy is that, if you do it right, you can see why your opponent made the moves (s)he did, and the moves (s)he intends to make.

As for the pic itself, How were the characters drawn? It makes me think of SSBB...

Awesome stuff.

Something bugged me while looking at this pic for a while, then I figured it out.

A chessboard is normally set up with a white square as the bottom right color from each player's perspective, and the positions of the king and queen pieces are reversed. The white king should be to the right of the white queen, with black side mirroring those positions.

That's just nitpicky though; this is badass.

I'm a bit shocked that somebody else here noticed the board was setup wrong. Props to you Borticus. Looks like I'm not the only nerd in the room.

being the position that the cartoon takes, it isn't that far fetched that they will push the boundaries of human thoughts and norms.

You're right about the chessboard being the wrong way around, but the king and queen are technically in the right spot if you go by statement that queen goes on her color square. Ultimately, it's the board squares that throw off the King and Queen positioning.

Its funny that some of the symetrical opposite figures are the person itself.
The highest "tower" for example is to the left side "Virgillia" and to the right side, Virgilla too but in her identity as normal person. ^^

The lowes towers are Maria the Witch (left) and normal Maria to the right. xD
The autor did more then just placing figures at the board. =)
