| jfif is an extension of jpeg that contains more quality information and is just better. your "issue" is firefox parsing images more correctly and and at higher quality than competing browsers. if you cant view the saved image somehow, get imageglass on windows or any number of linux's superb image viewers. it's probably wikipedia/jpeg_XT, which is HDR jpeg from 2015. which is 100% backwards compatible. |

| Saving a JPEG as a JFIF will not improve the quality of the image in any way, shape, or form. Once it's been a JPEG once, the quality damage has been done and cannot be reversed. Resaving a JPEG as another file type will always result in an image of equal or *worse* quality. Firefox saving the image as a JFIF is not causing it to "parse images more correctly" or save them at higher quality. It's the exact same image data with a new extension, or *recompressed* image data that has had *two* passes of lossy compression and has therefore degraded more. Please do not spread misinformation. |
