Summary:Simpler way to upgrade quality of existing posts
Description:Currently, if I find a higher quality version of a pic in the wild, I have to upload it separately, then flag the other for deletion.

Instead, there should be a way to upload a pic that's specifically intended to update an existing post. The score, comments, ID, URL and everything stays the same. The only difference is that the image, if approved, is replaced with the new upload.

Having to upload the new version as a new post is a deliberate design decision. Post ID's and image MD5 hashes are intended to be a 1-to-1 function. Changing the MD5 hash afterward violates this. The purpose of this 1-to-1 function is to make sure that users who already have an image from some other source, whether it's from their hard drive or another site, can jump directly to its post page on Gelbooru. Changing this breaks a lot of things. For example, iqdb uses this 1-to-1 function, so they would no longer be able to reliably link posts on Gelbooru.

Ok I think I understand. Still, it would be nice if the process was more streamlined, even if the result is a new post. The tags could be copied automatically, and the old post could be flagged for deletion automatically. Like maybe on the upload page, you could choose between writing tags or entering in the ID of the post your new upload is meant to replace.
