磔
An early method of execution invented by the early Assyrians. The condemned was laid out on a huge [[cross]] and held up until the condemned died of [[asphyxiation]]. Nails or rope were used to hold the condemned in place.
Because of its use by the ancient Romans to execute [[Jesus]], depictions of crucifixion often carry religious connotations. Updated by jedi1357 about 08/04/14 11:11 PM | Version 1 |
