Now Viewing: nichijouTag type: Copyright The title translates to My Ordinary Life. Despite the title, the events in the series are anything but ordinary with an aging principal getting into a wrestling match with a stray deer on campus, an easily embarassed tsundere girl who uses heavy firepower whenever she's embarrassed, and an immature child professor who has somehow created a robot girl nearly indistinguishable from a regular human and who is also considerably more mature than her creator and a handkerchief that allows an otherwise normal cat to talk. Nichijou is a wacky comedy manga created by Arawi_Keiichi which debuted on 2006 and was adapted into anime in 2011 by Kyoto_Animation that is directed by Ishihara Tatsuya and written by Hanada Jukki. Music is composed by Nomi Yuuji and character designs are by Nishiya_Futoshi The series does not have a real plot and is structured like a series of sketches albeit with continuity. The series focuses on two sets of main characters: Aioi Yuuko, Naganohana Mio, and Minakami Mai and Sakamoto, Hakase, and Shinonome Nano. Scenes focusing on the former group generally consist of the various comedic antics the oddball trio of friends get into, while the latter tends to involve Nano struggling to come to terms with the fact that she's a robot and dealing with her immature creator's antics. Supporting characters also get their time to shine as well. The series was broadcast on TV twice. The first broadcast was a 26 episode show while the second broadcast edited the series down to twelve episodes. The anime features two upbeat opening songs composed and performed, including the 'female' vocals, by Hyadain, famous for his remixes with lyrics of various video game themes. The manga sold 1,005,300 volumes in 2011. In contrast to previous Kyoto Animation adaptations, the series had lower DVD sales, resulting in the series failing to break even. The anime also doubles as an adaptation of Helvetica Standard, another comedy manga by Arawi Keiichi. Helvetica Standard sketches are also incorporated into the show. It has also been adapted into a visual novel called Nichijou: Uchuujin.
