He is an intellectual man who is greatly admired by Hinamori Momo and she is devastated when she discovers that he is killed and his body nailed to the top of a building with a sword. The shady Ichimaru Gin is the most likely suspect for Aizen's death. Unfortunately for the heroes, Aizen is not dead, and the impaled corpse is actually a highly realistic illusion created by Aizen's Zanpakutou. He is in fact the person who orchestrated the events of the Soul Society arc to begin with and is in reality a cold blooded and manipulative man who is determined to harness the power of the Hougyoku in Rukia's body and will dispose of anyone who ceases to be useful to him. Thanks to his manipulation of his fellow Soul Society shinigami and Ichigo storming the land while racing against time to stop Rukia's execution, Soul Society is distracted and fractured. He reveals his true nature after Ichigo barely manages to save Rukia at the end of the Soul Society arc and becomes one of the major villains of the series. He also gets rid of his glasses and slicks his hair back, dropping all pretenses of being a nice man. Although the heroes finally realize what he is up to, it is not enough to stop Aizen from accomplishing his goal and he easily defeats Ichigo when he attempts to attack him. Aizen defects from Soul Society along with Ichimaru Gin and Tousen Kaname. He is voiced by Hayami_Shou.
