The company was originally founded on September 1991 in Gifu, Japan. Their name translated to "number 1 in Japan". Not to be confused with Shiranui_Mai's famous catchphrase. They specialize in the strategy RPG genre and as of 2012 have earned the world record as the company that has put out the most strategy RPGs. Their games are often humorous and tongue in cheek in tone, but they have created games that are darker in tone and even their goofiest games have moments of pathos. They are also fond of crossovers and various characters that debut in one game will make a special appearance in their other work. One character in particular, Asagiri_Asagi, is famous for this as the game she was originally going to star in was indefinitely postponed. However, the developers decided to insert her in the company's other games and created a running joke revolving around Asagi's desperation to be the star of a game. Their RPGs are also famous for the lack of a damage cap making it possible for the player to perform attacks that are so devastating that they cause millions of damage. Their North American branch is also responsible for bringing over anime to North American shores.
