She had been referenced by Pekora in various streams, but it was not until the end of 2020, that Pekora's viewers would get to hear her for the first time. Pekora promised that once she reached 1,000,000 subscribers she would tell her mother about her virtual_youtuber career. On December 13, 2020, Pekora kept her promise and conducted a stream alongside her mother with her mother being represented by a clip art of a housewife with bunny ears. Pekomama initially didn't have an official design as she wasn't originally intended to be a part of Pekora's streams, but her audience grew more and more interested in her the more she was brought up or appeared, so she eventually received one. The standard design was designed by fan artist hikosan and published on December 13, 2020, the same day Pekora revealed her vtuber status to her mother. She resembles an older and mature Pekora with long_hair tied into a single braid draped over her shoulder. She wears a white dress with a large orange bow tied around her waist. Unlike her rambunctious daughter, she speaks in a calm and gentle voice. On April 1, 2024, she debuted a live 2d model created by hikosan based off of his design of her, and held a stream, with some coaching from Pekora, interacting with Pekora's fans. Said stream notably had the highest number of concurrent viewers for a hololive vtuber debut even though Pekomama isn't an official hololive member, gaining over 181,000 CCVs, and over 1.5 million viewers within a day.
