Now Viewing: ronald_mcdonaldTag type: Character The iconic clown mascot of Mcdonald's and the longest lasting mascot. He initially had a different appearance from his current one as he did not have the red hair he is known for having and it is unclear who actually originated the character with Willard Scott, George Voorhis, and Terry Teene claiming to have invented the character. The current incarnation of Ronald Mcdonald was created by circus performer Coco the Clown in 1966. Ronald has red hair and lips and wears white makeup, a red and white striped shirt, and a yellow outfit over that shirt. He usually appears in commercials and is intended to appeal to children. However, due to many people having a fear of clowns, including Mcdonald himself, he is often portrayed as a sinister character in artwork. Clips from commercials featuring him are often edited to turn him into a disturbing and even monstrous figure.
