Now Viewing: flynt_coalTag type: Character A dark-skinned teen boy who wears a fedora, sunglasses, and a suit with an untied tie draped around his neck. He is a supporting character from RWBY and is the leader of Team FNKI. Like Neon, he is very different from the rest of Atlas in his less formal and disciplined style and attitude. He is much calmer than his teammate and has a grudge against the Schnee family because the Schnee Dust Company ruined his father's business. He tells Weiss this during their tournament match. In spite of his grudge, he comes to respect Weiss after their match. He is a jazz musician whose trumpet is also his weapon. When he blows his trumpet, sound waves are emitted that push his opponents back. He is based off of and named after an Achievement Hunter meme, which originated in Achievement Hunter's Let's Play Minecraft #8. During the playthrough, Michael Jones (Sun in RWBY) asked, "I got coal and flint?" which inspired Geoff Ramsey to come up with a black private detective named Flynt Coal. Said character became a running gag in Achievement Hunter and became popular enough to become an actual character in Rooster Teeth's animations. Rooster Teeth's X-Ray and Vav also features a character who is named after the same meme although RWBY's Flynt is completely different from X-ray's. He is voiced by a voice actor who coincidentally has the same first name, rapper Flynt Flossy.
