Sega of America helped its console to achieve its popularity of North America, which managed to succeeded in sell very well in North America, which remained successful until the release of PS2 in 2001. The European releases had majority of logos changes, which was changed from orange to an blue color to avoid copyright issues from German, whose the company already uses the swirl orange logo. The interest in Sega Dreamcast was later lost its reputation when Sony developed and released an more hyped and more succesful Playstation 2, which caused Sega lost its financal losses for the its lifespan. After years failure attempt for price reduction and promotion for more type, Sega official discountiuned the Dreamcast on March 31, 2001, and withdrew from its home console buisnees and shift itself to a third party company. 9.13 million Dreamcast units were sold worldwide.
