It was released on November 17, 2009 for the Nintendo Wii. It is directed by Seto Yasuhiro, Kotake Hiroaki, and Takanashi Isao. The story was written by Suga Shotaro, Seto, and Murata Haruo. The soundtrack was composed by Uchiyama Shusaku and Miura Takeshi. Hirano Yoshihisa helped arrange the music for an orchestra. It was produced by Kawata Masachika and Noguchi Kentaro. The game is set in 2002. Leon, a relatively new government agent but experienced at fighting B.O.W.S, is sent to South America to work with veteran agent Jack Krauser, who has spent many years fighting human opponents but will be up against B.O.W.S. for the first time. The two men are tasked with investigating infamous drug lord Javier Hidalgo who is said to have ties to the Umbrella Corporation. While there is no conclusive evidence, Hidalgo is said to be responsible for the disappearance of many teenage girls from a village near his mansion. A local guide is set to guide them to Hidalgo's mansion, but the mission quickly does not go as planned. Once Leon and Krauser arrive at the village where they are supposed to meet with their guide, they are attacked by B.O.W.S and their guide is killed but not before telling the agents that a girl has escaped from Hidalgo's mansion and brought the B.O.W.S with her. Leon and Krauser find the mysterious girl, named Manuela, after enduring a lengthy battle. Krauser, shocked and confused by everything he just experienced, asks Leon to tell him every B.O.W. related experience he has had. The game goes back and forth between the present Operation Javier story, where Leon and Krauser venture to Javier's mansion while protecting Manuela, and retellings of Resident Evil 2 and Code: Veronica which are in-universe told by Leon to Krauser. Although the game retells Resident Evil 2 and Code: Veronica, it notably makes some significant changes in characterization and plot in its retellings making their canonicity somewhat debatable. However, the original Operation Javier arc is canon. The game was designed as a rail shooter because producer Kawata felt that this was the best way to retell the stories of the games that weren't included in Umbrella Chronicles. This game also uses a first person shaky camera style, which is meant to further place the player into the character's shoes and increase the game's horror. One of the developers went out and made motion tests with a camcorder to make the game's shaky cam style look more realistic.
