It is one of the most successful JRPG franchises in Japan and the original game was responsible for defining the genre and its conventions. Due to its iconic status in Japan, it is frequently homaged and parodied. Toriyama_Akira has done the artwork for all the games. Sugiyama Koichi has composed the soundtracks for all the games and has even arranged said tracks into orchestral pieces conducted by himself. He is actually the first video game composer to do such a thing and other famed composers like Uematsu Nobuo have cited him as an influence.
