I know that guy for now 10 years. He's 9 years older than I, actually (feels weird being now the age he was when we first met). He's almost certainly my biggest collaborator, soon to be dethroned by the boyfriend.
I used to have a crush on him, but I managed to get over it and we still kept on working seriously together. When our common best friend (we considered him a blood brother) died it sorta cemented our bond and now we're living out our artistic passions as if each day was the last.

Working title is Warp Soldier, but I'm sure it's going to keep that title.
I'm planning on uploading the full set (20 tracks) on my VGM-only bandcamp soon. I'm still debating whether to upload the 3 rejected tracks with it, or keep it for another "Rejected BGM" compilation like I did in 2016.

The OST is chiptune, but I made "redbook" versions of a couple select tracks and are already on Soundcloud.

*fair warning: I'm not a sound engineer and don't usually do my own mixing, so maybe don't crank it to 11 preemptively...

And here's an non-edited one.

Hey that's not too bad! I'd keep the rejected tracks with the game OST as a lot of fans like that sort of thing, but that's just me.

That's a pretty cool career if you can do it consistently~

Yeah I feel that, but I kinda also like separate bundles of those. When I'm a fan of a certain game OST, it's usually by association from liking the game composer (I obsess a shit ton on Motoi Sakuraba for one), and I know it'd please me if game composers did "rejected" compilations.
The rejected tracks are like, rejected in the literal sense, as in "I wasn't paid for them" (contrary to "it's theirs, but they are not using them in the end").

I used to be a drug dealer until weed got legalized. I'm usually always poor, so this was a pretty good gig. I'm always doing various projects simultaneously tho. I have 3 "band"-kind of projects, am working on my own game projects, doing pixel art/animations, fan art, concept art, concept design, game music, mockup-game music. Me and the boyfriend are starting our "doujin circle" thing soon, and also preparing a really epic Batman fan story/comic. All of this even if this means being poor all the time.

I used to tour with my band in bars around nearby provinces, just for beers. All the change we made from selling CDs was lost in gas/groceries before we even made it back home.

But was it all worth it? Absolutely. It always is.

Motoi Sakuraba is pretty amazing, he was a big selling point on the Tales games that he worked on. I kinda see your point about a track being included in the budget but not in the game vs. not even making it that far.

I feel you though, do what you love. I would much rather have a job that I enjoy over a job that I hate but makes a lot more money.

I'm not artistically inclined myself~ I draw and play instruments like an inebriated monkey.

From Mario Tennis to Dark Souls to Valkyrie Profile to Tales Of, yeah, he's so wonderful.

Yeah. The gig was sorta that. I was asked to do a lot of things I didn't particularly like putting out myself. And the rejected tracks also were among my favorite.

Sounds humble... I'd actually describe my technique and skill similarly. Heck, I think I even actually identify a lot to an inebriated monkey.

He did work on VP too didn't he? I only played 2 myself.

S'not humble for me I don't think, art and music just aren't my forte. I'm more of a math and English nerd.

Yeah he did, as well as every other VP. I think VP is possibly the best JRPG on PS1, if you can get past the 1-hour-long intro. VP2 is so great, I'm tempted to say the same about it for the PS2, but I haven't played as many PS2 games as I did PS1 ones, so I can't make the bold claim.

He in fact also composed every Star Ocean game and even made a Star Ocean/Valkyrie Profile reprise-compilation split (I can't immediately find it, but I however found a separate SOxVP concert. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_O7vDclp2I (bruh)

So you're a writer?

I have a friend that always bugged me to go back and play VP1. I did enjoy 2 quite a bit. I'm sure some a lot of FF fans would give you hell for making those claims, anyway~
I never did play Star Ocean.

I'm not a writer by trade, but I'm more of one than I would be an artist, that's for sure.

Actually, of those FF fans who played VP, they have a propensity to admit it's superior. FF is to RPGs what McDonalds is to burgers. McDonalds fans can give me all the shit they want... I'm ready :')

I only played the fourth one (Last Hope) and I figured it was alright since it's the first chronologically. I liked it very much (not as much as VP...). Insane crazy-ass crafting material hunts tho. BUUUUUT still not as insane as Baten Kaitos' (also an S.Motoi OST).

I mean tbh yeah, u should play VP1 :')

So how do you art with English/Math then?

I may get around to it sometime. It depends how gracefully it's aged, though. A lot of early 3D rendering PS1/N64 era games did not age so well.

I don't art with it, that's the point~
