How do I bypass phone verification for Google/Twitter?
Posted on: 04/27/21 07:59PM

Gmail and twitter suddenly locked me out my account (one after another in a span of two weeks) because they want me to "enter my phone number" to continue using their services, and it's gotten me pretty fucking peeved. I created the accounts specifically for private lewd browsing, so no, I refuse to enter my actual phone number. Hell, I'm pretty sure these companies spy on you, so why increase the spying by adding my real phone number?

Please help. Also could someone recommend a better mail service where I don't have to pay or enter a phone number? I want to try proton mail, but that's paid.

Know that feel. Gmail locked me out of 3 e-mail accounts when I switched hard drives (with the same IP address...) and it was an obnoxious process of switching back and forth to regain access to them.
Protonmail is free unless you need some of the premium features, but I've never had a need for them.

There's no getting around it unfortunately, although you might be able to create an account later on without problems. When I first created a Twitter account for this nick I got locked out almost immediately, and I refused to give them a phone number. A few years later I tried again and made a new account with the same name and e-mail address with no problem. The only difference was I changed the avatar before I confirmed my e-mail address the first time, and I made sure to confirm it before doing anything to the account the second time. I'm not sure that's what made a difference, but it's the only thing I did differently.

The only way I know of to create Google accounts without a phone number is to make a new account on an Android phone or tablet. (You can make a new account on an existing device by adding a new account as well.) You can probably do this with an emulator as well, but I haven't tried it. They do limit you to how many accounts you can make that way in a period of time, but it's how I made my Laura Google account without a phone number.

I'm now using protonmail, so thanks for the suggestion. Thought it was paid this entire time.

I don't feel like getting a new Twitter if another sudden lock out is going to happen again.

I think there are sites with numbers for these kind of things. Like temp emails. You can also get a different sim. In some places they are quite cheap.

Twitter's kind of arbitrary on that kind of thing, so it's always a possibility. It's one of the reasons I don't use them for much, but I do like having an account to follow some artists I like that only post on there.

Tbh since I don't interact much on there, gelbooru more or less gets the job done.

I'm going to be blunt here: I really fucking hate google right now. I'm so livid. The phone number verification has just happened to another account. I've had this account problem-free FOR YEARS and now it's just blocked out. Fantastic.

I suspect it has something to do with discord, because it happened almost as soon as I linked an account to one.

This only feeds into my suspicions that services such as google and discord spy on their users and wants to personally identify everyone that uses their services. So they can do god knows what.
