It didn't go 3 years without being tagged "loli"
The "loli" tag was removed.
While this image embraces what it means to be loli outside of Gelbooru. We've redefined the use of the tag (for this site only) to only be used on, I believe, explicit images only.
Little girls in a safe rated image shall never have the tag. And therefore I'll change it back for now.

As someone who regularly searches loli, I can tell you there are plenty of pictures tagged with it that are not explicit, however what you say is fine with me and I don't really want to make this into big deal. I agree with what you are said on many levels, so it feels wrong going against it..

There are still explicit images with the tag because the decision to change this is recent. Its still ongoing.

I suppose next you'll say non-sexually-explicit futa gets its own tag so it won't show up in futa?
Seriously, what are you guys smoking that you can't use tags in the intuitive and acceptable way and have to redefine everything to be as pretentious as possible? This is loli. You can tell because of the lolis. It should show up on a search for loli because it has lolis in it. Stop making things harder to search for. The tag change you want is /already implemented/. the search string is "loli rating:safe".

Nah. Not going to happen. Loli is loli as defined on the tag wiki page for loli. For every image of a female child, use the "child" and "female" tags instead.
While we try to avoid redundant tags, there are some situations where the redundant tag has so much prevalence that it would hurt proper indexing by combining them, especially when you go from having two separate tags that mean two different things to three possible tag combinations.
As it stands, we also use "loli" on questionable-rated images. You could use "loli rating:safe" just fine to find safe images with your proposed change, yes.
However, if you're trying to find NOT-safe loli posts, you'll need to do TWO searches to get the results found in the current loli tag. You'll need to search "loli rating:questionable" and "loli rating:explicit". Currently, we don't have a functional "OR" operator for searching, so this is an unacceptable solution, when only a very very small number of people even care.
