People guess cause he's a maggot, he must have to spit on his food to melt it before eating, which means the only reason he doesn't eat after spitting is because he finds more to spit on, has to keep fighting before enjoying his meal, and/or the fact everything disappears after dying making for a sad little void worm.

I like to think of it this way. Each of the creatures of the void are an aspect of something. Kogmaw is the stomach. Cho is the mouth. Vel is the Eye. Kaw is the claws? fang? ... I'm still working on that..... And Reksai.. isn't a void creature, don't care what the description says.
