Monogatari's failed attempt to hop into the moe bandwagon, which was never part of the main public that got atracted to the series in the first place.

If only the two of you had remained the forgetable background characters you were in Bakemonogatari...

Yeah except that they weren't. Beside read the light novels kid they always had a part in the series.
