like pacific rim, movie spent too much time following people nobody gives a shit about instead of the giants the audience came to see. Every time it looked like an awesome fight was about to happen... Let's see what the humans are up to! No... fucking no. I came to see Godzilla kick ass & chew bubble gum, and you barely delivered on the gum chewing.

Pacific Rim actually had the excuse that it was humanity fighting against the monsters though, even if it's in giant mechs. It wasn't Transformers coming down to Earth and fighting their enemies from their home planet but being sidelined in favor of the human cast and potty humor. Pacific Rim gave us the satisfaction of the fight at the very beginning and the fight between Gypsy Danger and the two Kaiju outside and inside of Hong Kong. Plus it gave us Idris Elba being, well, Idris Elba and that's never a bad thing.

It is a shame that Godzilla does focus on humanity being humanity instead of humanity just being "oh shit IT'S GODZILLA RUN MOTHERFUCKERS RUN"

and not nearly enough bryan cranston for being the lead actor he sure wasn't in the movie a whole lot

Well look at it this way folks, the movie made enough opening weekend that they are securing rights and getting a script ready for the sequel. If we are lucky, they will treat this one as set up and exposition and the sequel will be more monster on monster gloriousness.

Godzilla was easily better than Pacific Rim for the sole fact that Godzilla was in it.

It's a shame that so many of you forget that many Godzilla movies, including the original, don't show Godzilla much until about the halfway mark.

Spoiler:
Love what they did with the lighting, it's mostly dark and brow/orange, then suddenly in the midst of an armageddon like scenery, a blue lighting comes from the corner of the screen, and we all know what that means...

I don't care what anyone says, I'm 30 and I felt like a kid again seeing Godzilla beat the hell out of another Kaiju, like a freaking hero, like in every good Godzilla movie, in disadvantage.
