If you really want to know, during what -was- going to be the final Godzilla movie, Godzilla vs Destroyah, Godzilla was literally melting down like a giant nuclear reactor. To show that, he's glowing bright red. As well, his atomic breath permanently went from it's traditional blue hue to the more powerful spiral red breath that he could only sometimes use.
