What were they thinking? The big advantage of the EVAs over Jet Alone or the Trident was, AT-field aside, the flexiblity and the familiar frame. That was even acknowledged in-universe.
This abomination runs counter to both concepts: No hands, only one claw and an installed lance, so no just picking up and using whichever weapon required for the situation. The wide stance seems also impracitcal as fuck for cityfighting, clambering over rooftops or quick changes of position are pretty much impossible.
I don't like Mari, but I certainly pity her for getting saddled with this pile of shit.

So, does anybody remember when NGE was good? Around, say, 1996?
I could hear tiny sirens going off in my head when I read that they'd add a new character, but I ignored those. Then I saw concept art for the new test plugsuits. Stupid but fapable. One could live with it.
Then Mari was introduced and I could only wonder about the stupidity of introducing someone like her into this setting.
THEN I saw this sack of shit and nearly threw up. Way to go, Gainax.
