Colt ACR? Those things fired Duplex Ammo. Basically two bullets in one casing. It was a weird idea to say the least. One I'm not very found of but props for thinking something weird and giving it a try.

Colt ACR(M16A2E2)

A variant of the M16 that was a candidate for the US military's next-term rifle procurement plan (ACR plan) in the late 80's.

As it is based on the M16, which is the current main rifle, it is very conservative compared to other candidates who adopted caseless bullets and flechette bullets, and the operating mechanism and appearance were crazy. A) form, but the ammunition is characterized by adopting a special one called "duplex ammunition" in which another bullet is lined up behind the normal warhead. (The caliber itself is 5.56mm, which is the same as before.)

It seems that the selling point of this was that the mass of the bullets fired at one time would be doubled, and the damage effect on the target would be doubled, but in reality, only the deterioration in accuracy was conspicuous, and it was used for medium-range shooting and longer. It seems that the plan was buried in the dark because the drawback that it was necessary to carry a normal 5.56 mm bullet was exposed.

Nonetheless, the sight rib with a hand guard with a lot of holes for weight reduction is very rugged and cool, and I think he is particularly handsome among the many M16 series.

The ACR project has a lot of other nice rifles with creepy designs, but I want to make them all illustrations someday...

This is a variant of the M16 designed for the "ACR Project" that took place in the 1990s.
It uses a special ammunition that has another bullet embedded behind the original bullet to increase its power.

In fact, this rifle was never adopted by the US military.
However, I think it has the best looking design of all the AR-15 variants!
