The future...we still haven't solved the cpu over-heating problems. Sad.

Maybe she's an out dated model.

She was likely one of those kits you order and build as a hobby. A cheaper one, which required some creative ways around the less than effective and robust cooling system offered in the stock kit.

Overclockers come up with some weird tricks.

Put four extra power sources in your pockets and see if you don't generate a little too much heat, eh? You'll be crying for a boxfan, too, before long.

This guy's art frequently blows me away, even on a non-sexual level.

Is there a story to his art, or is he just always inspired to draw android girls in various states of disrepair?

I'd have to agree. We think of the future having androids and bots that are so perfect...perfect versions of us. But he draws bot girls that are young, innocent, and vulnerable...just like us. It's sort of compassionate.

Oh, this? This is to keep my brain from overheating and melting down, and I have to scavenge just to keep paying my own upkeep, or die.

Sad.

Also, they're not perfect. The builder is often seen still working on them, and you have to worry about things like overheating. In this artist's world you can really see that making an actual person from what you have lying around in your garage is not easy. They're often still hooked up to cables, still needing that data and power. They're almost never people who'd change little if they didn't have a doll joint or two. If we ever do end up making humanlike sentient robots, I can see them looking like his more than a lot of other people's, and I think if Asimov was still around he'd approve of the look.
