Nine is pretty powerful number in Hockey. 9 different players who wore 9 have had their numbers retired, including Maurice "the Rocket" Richard, Gordie Howe, Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, and Lanny McDonald.
And of course, one must also remember the man who wore two 9's

Gretzky was highly over rated, since he played in a different time. I bet you the man wearing two sixes would have broken everything if all those paddings werent added.
... and, you know, didnt have to take that break and deal with his pesky cancer..

To hell with Gretzky. I will never forgive him and McSorley for what they did to Doug Gilmour. I do however gave him more respect after Gretzky gave his speech in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
Other than that, hell with him. I prefer Mario Lemieux over Wayne anyday.
