Summary: | Delete/Edit Your Own Comments |
Description: | If you make a typo in a comment and then want to fix it, you should either be able to delete your own comment to fix it, or have an option to edit your own comment so that it can be fixed. A lot of other websites have this feature, and I think it would help this one too |

As far as I know, this is by design to prevent people from abusing it. If you make a typo in a comment, use it as a learning lesson so you remember to proofread your comments in the future. |

@JERL This is easily fixed by adding a time limit, e.g. 1 hour, so people cannot edit their comment after this limit. This will allow people to fix typos without abusing the system. |

1 hour is easily enough time to abuse the system in all kinds of illegal and unsavory ways. I don't think there's a meaningful time limit we could introduce which would both prevent users from using the site for illegal purposes and still allow them enough time to notice and fix their typos. |

Jerl, your answer is at least 50% shortsighted. It pertains solely to editing comments, not deleting them. Twitter, YT, Facebook all allow you to delete your comments. |

It does not pertain solely to editing comments. Deleting a comment advertising illegal services keeps us from knowing they did it exactly the same as editing it. Given the number of users we already end up reporting to NCMEC any given week, I can't imagine it NOT being abused. |
