Description:Comments currently can be flagged for deletion. I think this would be useful for forum posts as well.

I wonder who gave you that idea. . .
⌐_⌐

I don't think there's that much activity in this forum to warrant that; I understand there are measures as to how frequent one can post messages.

Comments are one thing, but threads contain many posts and most are conversations that need references.

I would hate to have made a very large, irreproducible post only to have a hater delete it cause they didn't think it was worthy of a response or pursuit.

Even if it's flagged, a mod may accidentally delete a post without reading it first to verify it or doesn't read it entirely, or just mis clicks while doing something else.

Accident's happen, that's why I always keep copies of my long texts and use Firefox in case things don't go through or something fails. Not all users are that considerate though, and tend to get very upset when they lose something they typed for hours online.
Somethings deserve to be deleted though, like flame, outdated threads, and floods.

I noticed a certain flooder on the forums too. . .
It's a weird experience from what highly active forums their used too.
I've been there, I know better now. Time spent better with comments and Pm's here.

Having comments deleted accidentally hasn't been a problem in the past and it won't be a problem with this either. You seemingly feel the need to stand up for people who go into the forums for the sole reason to troll, I guess because you do it yourself and feel that your trolling attempts would be threatened by this. If nothing else it would add consistency to publically visible messages on Gelbooru.

You obviously don't know me, so I'm going to pretend I didn't just read that(after this post).
You probably didn't take the time to read the post throughly either so I'll also take that under consideration.
Thems flamewords your speaking, but this isn't the chan and instead of risking heated discussion here, we should focus on this request of yours. BTW, You should have posted that privately.

What I'm getting at here is, there isn't enough users using the forum consistently to warrant that feature; the forum isn't active enough to use practically since Mods can just come in once a week and look at the threads for trouble, otherwise that one thread where there are 'girl' users would have been deleted a while ago because it's technically chat and is riddled with spam. We all know that though, no one's complained directly about it so it stays and it doesn't hurt anyone that doesn't go into it. No harm, no foul. There have already been threads/posts deleted in the past, if the Mods' wanted for us to have a button to push, it would have been there already cause I see one here that I can easily push to destroy your previous post. And, Technically I should push it, makes no difference to me.

See the problem with you request? It's not necessary, at least not now. And if It is, I'm pretty sure the Mods would figure it out themselves. Conclusions drawn, can be established here.

Should I delete Your Post? Should you delete mine?
I think they'd figure it's more trouble than it's worth.

And again, Concerning Communication here on Gelb, It's best to stick with comments and PM's cause posting in the forum usually seems like a cry in the dark.

You seem to think that clicking "flag" equals instant deletion. Rather, it's investigated by a mod or admin before the flagged message is deleted. You accuse others of not being able to read but you seem to be referring to yourself about this. The only person who would object to this ability is a person who seeks to abuse.

Thref replied at 2009-10-06 07:02:12
All your talking is based on speculation. Unfortunately for you, I have stake in the matter though I can instantly give you some by making a direct example herefrom deleting one of your posts. Only then, can you tell me that I'm that kind of user.
Know what, not gonna do it. You don't deserve it, you just don't know what it's like and as much as I'd like to show you I won't use that double ended sword this time.

My Comments were flagged for deletion and were deleted without being read correctly.
Later the situation concerning that took on a comical tone and all is well now with that and for the most part, nothing was lost. But suppose I was a normal user that DIDN'T keep copies? I'd still be pretty upset right now, only it wouldn't be funny.

That's a little naive, that last part you said:
"The only person who would object to this ability is a person who seeks to abuse."

Well, hasn't happened here yet now, has it? IF I was that kinda person, I'd delete every one of your posts here right now. And if you give them that power, they will use it in the forums. Flagged posts, mods still have to read the flags and respond to them. But again, the board just isn't that active to warrant it, AND, most people behave appropriately with the exception of a key few that usually get the boot in under a week anyway; giving THEM an extra button to push isn't going to make efforts easier for the Mods. So although your intentions are in the right place, they just aren't urgently needed right now and perhaps may not be for some time.

We've had our are share of lulz creep about the forums in the past and Board Leader was pretty upset about it. You'd think after that, he'd put in safeguards to reduce the amount of mal use on this site. Some were implemented I believe, what your suggesting was not.
What do you make of that?

How about we meet you half way:
Create another ticket, one that only Hides a post/thread instead of deletes it.
Same logic behind Guro images, they are allowed regardless of what anyone thinks, BUT only if you really want to see them.
That is also a comment feature, instead of deleting a comment, it could just be hidden from view and whoever decides to go ahead and read it is opening their own can.

There, problem solved. We can stop now.
Although, it's been nice typing. Hadn't had this much discussion for a while.

Only admins or people with tracker permissions can delete the comments here. I should probably hide it from users. I'm not, but I probably should.

As Thref said, our forum is not nearly active enough to warrant such a change and even hiding the stupid topics isn't a priority.

Deuxsonic replied at 2009-10-06 21:12:24
Lol at Thref making empty threats.

Thref replied at 2009-10-07 00:25:28
Deuxsonic, your immaturity is only matched by your cluelessness.
⌐_⌐
You heard Board Leader, and I've told you already, the forum just doesn't see that much activity to warrant the change; he also added that not even hiding topics is a priority.

Is there something wrong with your system that only allows you to read the first sentence of the posts here, or what?

At this point, you just want the final say. Guess what, Board Leader Is the final say and at this point in time the judgment has come to pass. Not ready yet, when/IF the time comes then perhaps; it's the only reason the ticket is still open.

So if you want the final say between us herein, Go ahead. Be advised, it will fall on def ears.
I'll let you have it cause it's your ticket and all, but it appears to be only worth the space it's typed in, at this point in time.

IF you got something else to say to me, We have a PM system, use that(I can use some entertainment, been pretty slow around here lately), I doubt Board Leader appreciates us discussing irrelevances here.

Deuxsonic replied at 2009-10-07 18:58:01
Yes I know, don't leave messages here because you have to strain to come up with a response. I love your smug thinking that by kissing up to an admin that he'll automatically take your side and close the ticket/ban me/etc simply because you had the lack of logic the led to you starting an argument. You claim I'm the immature one, yet you are the one making personal attacks. If anyone is in the wrong here, it's you.
