Now Viewing: kochikameTag type: Copyright (こち亀) The full title is (こちら葛飾区亀有公園前派出所) Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo (This is the police station in front of Kamaeri Park in Katsushika Ward) A wacky episodic comedy created by Akimoto_Osamu, which ran in Weekly Shounen Jump, that centers around the wacky antics of a group of police. Episode plots generally begin with Ryo coming up with a crazy scheme to make money or exploit the latest trend and the humorous consequences that result from his schemes. It holds the distinction of being the longest continuously running manga ever, running from September 21, 1976 to September 17, 2016 spanning over 1700 chapters and 200 volumes. It was adapted into an anime TV series that ran from June 16, 1996 – December 19, 2004. It also has been adapted for the stage multiple times and a 1977 live action film and a 2009 live action TV series. The series' popularity also brought fame to its real life counterpart setting, Kamaeri Koen. Although the police station that is the subject of the series is fictional, it was based off of a real one. On February 2006, statues of protagonist Ryo-san were erected at the north and south gates of Kameari Station. The series' characters are also represented in Shounen Jump crossover games Jump Super Stars, Jump Ultimate Stars and J-Stars Victory VS.
