Now Viewing: sonic_lost_worldTag type: Copyright A 2013 3D Sonic Platformer game for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. Tag refers to images specifically referencing this Sonic game. The game is directed by Kishimoto Morio and Bayashi Heido and produced by Iizuka Takashi. Music is composed by Ohtani Tomoya, Eguchi Takahito, and Hataya Naofumi. The story is written by Ken Pontac, Warren Graff, and Nakajima Harumasa. The artwork is done by Kawamura_Sachiko. It marks the first time former rivals Nintendo and Sega will be partnering on a Sonic game. The game is set on the mysterious floating island Lost Hex. Dr. Eggman is once again stirring up trouble and has captured some of Sonic's animal friends and taken them to this floating island. Sonic pursues his old archnemesis and finds that he is using a mysterious conch to keep six beings known as the Deadly Six under his control. Sonic instinctively kicks away the shell, but this turns out to be a critical mistake as the Deadly Six, with their weakness removed, proceed to take revenge on Eggman by taking control of his army. They then set their sights on taking over the world. Now, the two mortal enemies must work together to foil the Deadly Six's plans. The level design is very different from previous 3D Sonic games in that the environments are spherical worlds floating high in the sky. A new control scheme has been conceived to accommodate this change in level design. Sonic moves at a moderate speed when the player moves the directional controls and runs faster when the player holds the trigger button. Sonic also has the ability to engage in wall running when the player holds the run trigger. The game is also comparatively slower paced than previous 3d Sonic games. Sonic is once again the sole playable character. The game and its level designs strongly resemble the canceled 3d Sonic game Sonic X-Treme. However, according to Iizuka, the resemblance is a coincidence as the developers were unfamiliar with the canceled Sonic game. While the game still features plenty of humor, it notably returns to a darker tone in contrast to the past few lighthearted Sonic games. As the game is a collaboration between Sega and Nintendo, there are levels based off of Nintendo properties. The game has a DLC level based off of Yoshi's Island complete with a remix of Yoshi's Island music and featuring enemies from said game. There is also a Legend of Zelda DLC level and remix.
