She was the second alternate Japanese Kizuna Ai after Love-chan. In her debut appearance she looked exactly the same as Kizuna Ai. Love-chan's debut was fraught with controversy due to longtime fans realizing that her voice was distinctly different from the original Kizuna Ai, voiced by Kasuga Nozomi. The controversy got worse when Ai-pii herself made her debut on June 14, 2019 again sounding different from Kasuga's performance. This led to fan backlash against the channel and active8, which initially did not explain the sudden change, but later released a public document explaining their plans for AI Channel. She was later made into a distinct character from Ai, starting off by giving her a yellow * hairclip. In spite of the controversy, she and the other main alternate Ai, Love-chan, gained fans of their own. After AI Channel broke off from active8, the decision was made to have the original Ai return to being the main star of the AI Channel while ai-pii and Love-chan spun off into their own channel, love-pii channel, which was launched on April 8, 2020. She and Love-chan initially appeared as their original Kizuna Ai clone selves, but announced that they would return with a new look. Ai-pii kept the yellow *, but it became her right earring. She was radically redesigned into a short-haired young woman who wears a yellow hoodie. She has a pink heart accessory right on her chest. This new design was handled by Koh_rd. However, Ai-pii's time on the new channel was short-lived and she left the channel on August 18 with the song "Uinatsu," being her final contribution to it.
