It is notable for its extreme speed and running at a fast framerate, its not uncommon for racers to go above 1000 km/h in game. Race courses feature boosts, health-restoring strips, gravity defying loops, and spectacular jumps. Many courses are quite dangerous; the player's machine can be destroyed if they fall off the track or crash into the walls too much. The player can destroy other machines by ramming into them, but unlike Mario Kart, there are no weapons to assist the player in doing this. F-Zero GX featured a story mode and notably developed the cast more than other games in the series and went as far as to give each racer a theme song with lyrics. While the franchise has a large cast, Captain Falcon is the most famous and recognizable character thanks to his consistent appearances in Super Smash Bros. franchise. Smash Bros. also features levels based off of the race courses of this game. They are amongst the most chaotic of the Smash Bros. series as the lightning fast F-Zero cars are obstacles in the game and they can severely damage or KO a character if s/he is not careful. The stage Big Blue is a platforming heavy level takes place on top of the F-Zero vehicles that are racing at Big Blue. The stage is constantly changing and the players must adapt by jumping from car to car while fighting off their opponents. If a character falls off the road, s/he will quickly zip off-screen and be instantly knocked out unless the character is fast enough to jump on a vehicle in time. It received an anime adaptation titled F-Zero GP Legend, which was also adapted into a game. The anime is mostly notable for its famous climax in where Captain Falcon pulls off a spectacular Falcon Punch on the villain Black Shadow. Crossover: Super_Smash_Bros.
