His design is based off of Martin Riggs from the Lethal Weapon film series. He is also acknowledged in-universe to bear a resemblance to Snatcher's protagonist Gillian Seed, so much so, that Napoleon, in a cameo, believes Jonathan to be Gillian. He was part of the Policenauts, the first law enforcers of the space colony Beyond Coast, but an accident sent him careening into space and he only survived thanks to being placed in cold sleep by his space suit. He is discovered and reawakened 25 years later, only to find that the entire world, as well as his loved ones, has changed. His wife Lorraine has married Hojo Kenzo in the 25 years he was absent and Jonathan's friends have moved to Beyond Coast. Jonathan remains a young man while everyone else has aged. He works as a private eye, but business isn't going well for him despite the extensive training he has received as a Policenaut and the city he lives in, Old L.A., is notorious for its high crime rates. Jonathan has also developed cosmophobia as a result of his accident even though he previously loved exploring space, so he feels no desire to go to Beyond Coast. He gets a surprise visit from his ex-wife Lorraine who is now physically twice Jonathan's age, which briefly reawakens his feelings for her. She wants him to help find her missing husband Kenzo and help her daughter Karen. Their reunion is tragically cut short when Lorraine is killed by a hit man; Jonathan swallows his fear of space and takes up her request. He reunites with his best friend Ed Brown and the two of them work together on the case. Although Ed has changed quite a bit, the two of them remain very close. Jonathan feels out of place in Beyond Coast and often has to ask people about how things work in the place. He also keeps a cigarette in his mouth even though Beyond Coast does not allow smoking but Jonathan doesn't light his cigarette. He is a major womanizer and often flirts with any attractive woman he sees. He also likes to come up with excuses to touch women's breasts. He is voiced by Tanaka_Hideyuki.
