Its logo consists of a golden M that is drawn like two arches. Tag covers images that feature references to the restaurant. It began as a small barbecue restaurant in 1940, organized by Richard and Maurice McDonald. It reinvented itself as a burger stand in 1948, but began steadily rising in prominence after it was purchased by Ray Kroc in 1955 who eventually turned it into the large corporation with restaurants all over the world. What customers can order from the place varies depending on the region, but burgers and fries are the constant. The first Mcdonald's restaurant in Japan opened in 1971. It has created a series of mascots to appeal to children. The most well known being the red haired clown Ronald Mcdonald who has also been featured in Japanese commercials and often a source of video parodies. It also tends to appear in anime in a modified form; its name and logo are often slightly altered but it is still clear which restaurant it is supposed to be.
