Tag refers to the series in general. Most of the games are standalone entries although there are a few games with direct links to each other. Although most games are unconnected with each other, the characters from one Tales game will often show up in another as secret bosses. The series is famous for often having a shocking plot twist that turns everything the characters and often the player had previously known upside down occur right in the middle of the story. The series often features a soundtrack composed by Sakuraba Motoi. It is also known for featuring 'skits,' short dialogue segments that develop the main characters further. Some segments function as comic relief, others are more serious in tone. The games also include a few short anime-style cutscenes though most of the cutscenes are rendered using the in-game graphics. Some of the games have been adapted into anime.
