She is one of the most prominent recurring characters in the Devil_May_Cry franchise and debuted in the original Devil May Cry. She barges into Dante's office with a job: she wants Dante to help her stop the devil Mundus who wants to conquer the human world via opening a gate on Mallet Island. Dante accepts the job both because he knows Mundus is responsible for his mother Eva's demise and because when Trish takes off her sunglasses, he notices that Trish looks exactly like Eva. Trish is initially aloof towards Dante and Dante soon discovers that Trish is a demon actually working for Mundus all along who specifically created her to look like Eva to lure Dante into a trap. However, after Dante decides to rescue Trish in spite of her betrayal, she feels intense guilt over her actions to the point that she betrays Mundus and becomes one of Dante's trusted companions. After reforming, Trish remains somewhat aloof but also develops a more mischievous personality, enjoying playing jokes/tricks on Dante. In combat, she usually dual wields pistols, and wields the Sparda weapons. She is also a skilled hand to hand fighter, specializing in kicks, and in more serious battles, she will resort to throwing bolts of lightning. She favors motorcycles as her main mode of transportation. Much like Dante himself, her name is derived from The Divine Comedy. She is named after Beatrice Portinani, a real life woman who was the basis for Beatrice in Dante Alighieri's poems and who Dante had very strong feelings for. As the first female lead in the franchise, she was created by series creator Kamiya_Hideki, who left the series after the first game. In his conception of the series, Trish was more prominent as Dante's partner and according to him, his relationship with her was more than love. However, in her subsequent appearances, her role is reduced and their relationship was reframed to be closer to friends/business partners as opposed to the romantic subtext in the original. Like Dante, she has made appearances in games outside of the franchise like Viewtiful Joe and Marvel vs Capcom 3. Her bust size also increases in subsequent appearances. She was playable for the first time in Devil May Cry 2 as a secret character, but she has no effect on the game's storyline. She is voiced by Sarah Lafleur (Devil May Cry 1), Tanaka_Atsuko (Devil May Cry anime and JPN voice in Marvel vs Capcom 3), Danielle Burgio (Devil May Cry 4 and Eng voice in Marvel vs Capcom 3), and Wendee Lee (Devil May Cry 5) These voices also double as double casting in games where Eva appears, the same voice actress who plays Trish also plays Eva.
