Now Viewing: yagami_lightTag type: Character The brown haired protagonist of Death Note. He is a genius teenage boy and the son of the highly respected police officer Yagami Soichirou. He is a fairly charismatic boy and is well liked by his peers. He is quite successful with women in-universe but Light does not seem to have any interest in romance. He is initially a fairly normal boy until he discovers the Death Note dropped by Ryuk. Soon after he discovers the note, he also encounters the shinigami Ryuk who finds Light quite interesting and tags along with him to passively observe his actions. After successfully testing the note on some criminals, Light decides to become vigilante known to the world as 'Kira' and wipe out criminals by using the note. His actions spark controversy in-universe with some people supporting his actions and others condemning them. Light himself believes that his actions are perfectly justified, but his morals gradually slip as he become corrupted by repeated use of the Death Note. He moves from killing violent criminals to killing police officers who can potentially expose him and sees nothing wrong with his actions and grows increasingly megalomaniacal. He is very skilled at crafting elaborate plans and manipulating people. He often remains calm even under pressure, however, he is also a very proud boy and goes into a furious rant whenever someone manages to outsmart him like L does at times. He is voiced by Miyano_Mamoru and played by Fujiwara Tatsuya in the live action films.
