She debuted in the third generation of My Little Pony where she was portrayed as a British-accented pegasus with an interest in fashion and acts an older sister figure. In Friendship is Magic, her characterization is almost the opposite of her past incarnation. She is a tomboyish pegasus who is obsessed with coolness. As such, she tends to use more slang than her friends and enjoys an adrenaline rush. She manages the weather of Ponyville. She is originally from the city in the sky, Cloudsdale. She has the ability to fly at extremely fast speeds to the point that she can break the sound barrier. She greatly admires the aerial acrobatic group Wonderbolts and hopes to join them one day. She has a special move called the Sonic Rainboom in where she rockets across the sky at speeds so fast that she creates a rainbow trail or a rainbow shockwave. She can be quite cocky and rude at times, but she has an unshakeable loyalty to her friends. She is especially afraid of failure; she tends to take losing poorly and she can have panic attacks at the possibility of failing and being humiliated. In G3, she is voiced by Venus Terzo (Early G3), Anna Cummer (Core 7), and Brooke Fennel (Baby) In Friendship is Magic, she is voiced by Ashleigh Ball who also does her singing and is one of the few voice actresses to both voice her character's dialogue and sing her character's songs. She does the same thing for the other main character she voices, Applejack. Ball is also the lead singer of the Canadian band Hey Ocean.
