Naoto is the last character to join Yuu's party and is the shortest member of the group. The female population of Yasogami High plus Kanji, much to his confusion, finds Naoto very appealing. Naoto is a serious young ace detective in Inaba investigating the recent murders and questions Yuu and co about them. Yuu and the others keep Naoto in the dark which frustrates the detective and leads the teen to take much more risky solution to nab the killer. In combat, Naoto specializes in using guns. After Naoto appears on the Midnight Channel, Narukami and his friends head into the TV world to rescue Naoto. Once there, they discover that Naoto is, in fact, a girl who deliberately presents herself as if she were a male in order to be taken seriously as a detective. She gets frustrated when she feels that people don't take her seriously in spite of her dedication and was upset over the protagonists keeping her in the dark. Like Kanji, she has also experienced difficulties due to having interests that are not commonly associated with her gender. In her case, she loves tokusatsu action series and the dungeon she is kept captive in by her Shadow resembles a secret military base/supervillain hideout. After Narukami and co. rescue Naoto from her Shadow's attempt to forcibly turn her into a male, Naoto is accepted into the group and works with them to solve the mystery behind the recent murders in Inaba. Although she acts like a cool and calm detective, she also proves to be rather shy. She remains very popular amongst the girls even after she is outed as female. While she continues to dress in a masculine fashion, she gradually grows more comfortable with her own gender and is more willing to try out more feminine looks. She is the Wheel of Fortune Arcana. The character-defining reveal of Naoto's gender was not the original intent for Naoto. She was originally intended to be male, still androgynous-looking. Naoto is also the star of the spinoff novel Persona X Detective sporting a new look. Naoto is voiced by Paku_Romi who is known for playing young male characters which is what Naoto initially appears to be.
