As the title suggests, it is a 2D crossover fighting game involving the various Marvel superheroes and supervillains and Capcom heroes and villains duking it out. It is notable for its fast paced tag team style gameplay, which often leads to lengthy and spectacular combos pulled off by one team. Players can switch between characters on the fly and the fight doesn't end until every member of one side's team is completely knocked out or time runs out.
