It is directed by Nagamine Tatsuya, produced by Umezawa Atsutoshi, and written by Yamada Takashi. Music is composed by Takanashi Yasuharu. Characters were designed by Umakoshi_Yoshihiko and the series as a result has a strong visual resemblance to fellow magical girl series Ojamajo Doremi and the Casshern reboot Casshern Sins whose characters were also designed by Umakoshi. Hanasaki Tsubomi is the shy and awkward daughter of flower sellers. She has been having strange recurring dreams of a Precure named Cure Moonlight. She constantly has dreams of Cure Moonlight's final battle in which Moonlight is defeated by Dark Pretty Cure while the former is attempting to protect the Heart Tree. She has vivid memories of this dream, but it does not seems to be something that affects her daily life. Tsubomi is primarily concerned with changing herself, which she resolves to do on the first day of school. She soon finds this to be easier said than done as she bungles her introduction to the class. Her attempt to introduce herself properly is also hampered by her new classmate Kurumi Erika who ends up embarrassing Tsubomi. Erika is the opposite of Tsubomi, outgoing and aggressive. Although she means well, she can be unintentionally insensitive with her behavior. Tsubomi initially wants nothing to do with Erika but avoiding her proves to be impossible once they discover that the two of them are next door neighbors. Tsubomi soon learns that her recurring dream was not merely a dream; it was a vision of something that actually happened. She is contacted by the fairies Chypre and Coffret who were present in the 'dream.' They are looking for another Precure to pick up where Cure Moonlight left off and protect the Heart Tree and they believe that Tsubomi is a good candidate to be a Precure. Tsubomi's life, and her opinion of Erika, changes after Erika is attacked and imprisoned within a crystal ball like object by a mysterious woman named Sasorina who is a Desertrian. Tsubomi learns from Chypre and Coffret that every person has a heart flower within them, which is connected to the great Heart Tree. A person's heart flower starts to wilt whenever s/he becomes burdened with a personal problem exacerbated by the individual being unable to express his/her worries for various reasons. The Desertrians exploit people with wilting heart flowers as part of a plan to eventually turn the entire Earth into a desert. Their victims are encased within a ball and the victim's negative energy is channeled into an inanimate object that transforms into a monster. Said monster goes on a violent rampage while loudly ranting about the woes that the victim was unable to express. Tsubomi comes to understand Erika more after she hears the monster's rants. Tsubomi becomes a Precure in order to save Erika and other people attacked by the Desertrians and transforms into Cure Blossom. Tsubomi manages to save Erika and the two of them reconcile and become best friends. Tsubomi once again learns that changing herself will be difficult as her clumsy performance in the fight to save Erika earns her the ignoble moniker of Weakest Precure Ever. Nevertheless, Tsubomi does not give up in fighting for others. Tsubomi learns that Erika has also had the same dream of Cure Moonlight being defeated and that she also shares Tsubomi's desire to protect people from the Desertrians. The two girls learn that defeating the monsters will earn them heart seeds which will be used to replenish the Heart Tree. Erika becomes Cure Marine and the two girls work together to fulfill the task that Cure Moonlight was unable to accomplish and gradually learn what became of Cure Moonlight. The series is based around a flower motif and there are many references to flowers which are also a major part of the series storyline. As the Kurumi family is involved in the fashion industry and Kurumi and Tsubomi form a fashion club at school, there is also plenty of focus on fashion.
